A Home Away From Home‭ ‬
About Competition‭ ‬

The project was designed according to the brief of the competition called‭ ‬‘A Home Away From Home’‭. ‬The challenge of the competition was to design new housing solutions for asylum seekers and other urgent groups in the Netherlands‭. ‬The site was not given but picked by each student to sustain their conceptual purposes‭. ‬

Timmerfabriek‭ ‬
About Position

An old timber factory and its empty surroundings was chosen for two reasons‭. ‬First‭, ‬the Vlissingen as a city was logistically in‭ ‬a great location to reach cheap building materials‭. ‬Second‭, ‬the abandoned factory can be used as a production place‭  ‬for the houses to be constructed‭. ‬Furthermore‭, ‬it can serve as a cosy gathering place for the asylum seekers‭. ‬In this way‭, ‬this this abandoned factory needed a new life in the urban tissue and it become a production hub for the constrcution site and a social hub for‭ ‬the life that follows the production of it‭. ‬
